I am a mechanical engineer (EIT) with a passion for creativity and design. I graduated with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering Co-op from the University of Alberta in the spring of 2019.
Throughout my undergraduate degree, design and innovation challenges were always the most rewarding to me. Group design projects, the Aero HLG design team, the UofA makerspace (Elko Engineering Garage), and my involvement in the engineering student community were highlights of my time at the UofA.
Since graduating I have gained experience working at a number of startup companies. Heliolytics (Now Zeitview) is leading the industry in solar energy inspection technology, and Morgan Solar is working to develop solutions to complex light, heat, and energy problems using building integrated solar (BIPV) and data collection technologies. My undergraduate degree, and industry experience, has allowed me to learn practical skills and challenge my application of critical thinking.
Since fall 2023 I have been pursuing my love of prototyping and fabrication at the University of Toronto Light Fabrication Facility. There I get to work with students and research staff on a wide variety of projects. I provide consultation on manufacturability for research prototypes and design projects, run the 3D printer farm, and supervise the wood shop and electronics fabrication areas.
My primary motivation for entering into an engineering career was out of a desire to create. I have always been fascinated with the process of taking an idea and figuring out how to give it substance; how to bring it into the real world.
Building a robust engineering skillset and exercising my creativity is something I pursue in both my professional and personal life. Check out my resume and some of my work here:
By constantly learning new things and taking on new challenges, I am continuing to pursue a career and future in innovation
I love the outdoors and take any chance I can to get to the mountains, or at least find a hill somewhere to climb up. I also delve into yoga and am an avid trail runner.
Reading has always been my escape and I enjoy all sorts of literature, though I tend towards sci-fi and fantasy. Dan Simmons and Terry Pratchett are two of my favorite authors.
